More often than not a dog kennel within your garden will not require planning permission (boarding kennels will require planning permission). Typically, dog kennels, for planning purposes, are defined as an “outbuilding”. As such they are typically considered to be a permitted development not needing planning permission.
However limits and conditions may apply in areas such as National Parks, the Broads, AONB’s and within the curtilage of listed buildings.
